IKE’S LIST OF DOMAINS AT AUCTION FOR Monday, March 25th

Escrow.com

I had a long weekend of soaking baits in Virginia. I didn’t say fishing, because we didn’t catch many fish. Someone asked me today if I had fun, I thought about it for a minute, and said something like, “I suppose it was fun in a way: it wasn’t fun only catching a few fish in 18 hours of fishing, but now that it’s over I have that worn out, tired, satisfied sense that I didn’t sit in front of a computer all weekend.”

The first day, Saturday there was crazy winds and huge waves in the open sections of the river.

It was the first time we ever fished the James River, so hopefully we learned a few things and will do better next time. We weren’t the worst, there was a total of around 125 boats, and at the end of day one, 30 or 40 boats had not weighed in at all.

Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Sunday March 24th, 2019

Escrow.com

Nobody liked my joke the other day so I’ll try another one today.  I had a long long run yesterday morning and beautiful, busy day at the nursery and my brain is fried.  So I’ll leave it here.  Enjoy the day

Dad is listening to his daughter say her prayers before bedtime.
She says – God bless mommy and god bless daddy and god bless grandma and… goodbye grandpa.
He asks her – why did you say that?
I don’t know, I just felt like saying it.
The next day, grandpa drops dead. Wow, thinks dad, that’s an odd coincidence.
A month later at bedtime, the daughter says – God bless mommy and daddy. And goodbye grandma.
Sure enough, the next day grandma breathes her last earthly breath.
The dad realizes this is more than a coincidence, but he is not sure what to do. He doesn’t want to disturb his wife by telling her (Grandma and grandpa were her parents).
Months go by and one night the man is listening to his daughter saying her prayers at bedtime – God bless mommy….she turns her head and looks straight at him – and goodbye daddy. What!? are you sure honey? She nods. The man’s heart begins racing and he breaks out in a sweat. He is so upset, he can’t sleep at all that night.
The next day he goes off to work, but locks himself in his office. He takes the phone off the hook, cancels all his meetings and awaits the inevitable.
He stays at work past 5 because he feels secure there. He watches the hours tick by. Finally it is midnight and, drenched in sweat, he realizes he has cheated death. He drives home drenched in sweat and with all his nerves frazzled.
His wife is up and waiting for him – Where the hell were you today??! He replies – Don’t shout, I’ve had an absolutely miserable day.
His wife then says – You had a miserable day? I’m the one who had a miserable day! First, the milkman drops dead on the steps…

Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on.

Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Saturday March 23rd, 2019

Escrow.com

I’m taking over for Josh today because he’s trying to win $10K in a fishing tournament.  If you read here daily you already know my hobby is running, Josh’s is fishing (although he wins money doing it), and Travis’ is collecting antique radios, and Mike’s is chasing his boys around.   I forgot how nice it was to have Friday nights off from writing the list but fortunately the NCAA basketball tournament was on so I just worked and watched.

I was talking with Michael Cyger on the phone the other day about an auction he was interested in and whether it was a good buy or not.  He loved the name but had done his homework to come up with a number it needed to be to make it worthwhile to him.   We talked/texted  about it until it got to his number and eventually passed it.   It was an easy no for him because of his decision making process. His process is actually a check sheet.  At DNAcademy he’s created a great prebuy checklist to go through to analyze the name.  It ensures you know everything you can going into the purchase.  I was really impressed how thought out it is.   Mike went on to write a post about his process of buying a name using the sheet.  You have to be a member to read it but you should be if you’re anything other than super experienced.  And I’m not saying this because I’m being paid. I actually turned down advertising from Mike because I don’t like to mix business with pleasure and Mike is one of my better friends in the industry.  We talk pretty much every day about something. Mostly running.  But I saw that check sheet and DnAcademy and it reminded me that he truly is the most organized, professional person in this industry.  It comes across in DnAcademy.   Just not in his running

PS: Travis doesn’t collect antique radios

Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Friday March 22nd, 2019

Escrow.com

I generally keep most of my complaints with domain companies to emails and phone calls.  The main reason is I wouldn’t expect them to read our blog every day so its a bit presumptuous to think my writing will reach the company.  If I think something will help their company I figure out who I need to talk to and let them know.  I’ve been a little more vocal with Sedo because trying to get them to change is like turning around an oil tanker.  They are slow to move.   Great people but only the brokers seem to be moving in a constant forward direction.  The rest seem to be spinning in circles.  To the point I have to talk to the brokers to get them to tell the management to return my phone calls. I really think this is all going to change with Matthias Conrad coming on board.  I had a good talk with him and really liked what he had to say and gave me his number if I ever wanted to contact him directly.

I think you’re going to see some good changes.  I am paid to work with Sedo but if you’ve read this site for the last 10 years that doesn’t stop me from saying things like the above.  Good is good and bad is bad.  Doesn’t matter if you advertise here or not.  And there is some dust that needs to be blown off the Sedo site.   I think Matthias is the man to get it done.  Looking forward to seeing Sedo progress and reestablish themselves as a major domain brand acquisition site and domain auction house.  They could be both if they wanted.  They already have some of the best brokers in the industry, nows its time to beef up the rest of the company.  Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on.

Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Thursday March 21st, 2019

Escrow.com

We recorded one of my favorite shows of Domain Sherpa on Tuesday.  The panel was Kate Buckley, Braden Pollock, and I with Tess hosting.   It went really long but it was because there was some great discussion.  Both of them have a good sense of humor so there was lots of joking to go along with the info.  Those two have sold millions of dollars worth of domain this past year and they share a ton of great stories and tips.

We had a some good conversation off camera and one of the things we discussed was women who don’t get credit for their accomplishments because of their looks.  I have always believed that a person that was more pleasant to look at would have an advantage over others.  Not just women but men as well.  Not saying that anyone can’t do a great job, just saying that a prettier person usually has an advantage by the laws of nature.   I am absolutely not the best looking person but I value my smile and think that keeping a nice smile and using it has gotten me lots of sales over the years in the retail business. A greeting with a nice smile puts people at ease.  I realize its different for women. Generally because men are pigs and women are even meaner.  At least that’s what the girls in my house say.

Anyone who has met Kate knows that the beauty is in the personality.  That won’t change with age.  That southern charm and easy going attitude makes a buyer feel at home.  She can talk with a complete stranger and make them feel at home. That’s how most southern people are.  They don’t know a stranger.   She’s not bullshitting them, she’s just taking away their anxiety by having a voice that’s smooth, with a good cadence, and exudes confidence and intelligence.  And when you’re working most of your deals on the phone, there isn’t a better trait to have.  So if she is making sales with her beauty its the beauty in her voice. This is attainable by anyone with training and practice

All that being said, I have never had a problem with people making money on their looks.  If you’re fortunate enough to have been given the gift of beauty then use it in your favor.  It’s nothing to be ashamed of.  I’ve never understood why people that workout 2 hours a day, eat properly, and maintain a healthy lifestyle don’t want to be judged on their looks. They’ve earned every bit of it.  I understand not wanting to be known only for beauty but many a career has been launched with beauty and finished with skill and talent.  We make a living on the Internet trying to catch someones eye and it works the same in the real world. Beauty catches the eye.  It’s what you do when you’ve caught their eye that defines the person. Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on.
